Binary Options Risk Calculator
Before you place a binary trade, you should know two numbers: how much of your balance the trade puts at risk, and what your balance will be if it wins or loses. This free binary risk calculator shows both in a few seconds. Nothing is saved and you do not need an account.

What is a binary risk calculator?
In binary options, every trade has a fixed amount. If the trade loses, you lose the whole amount. If it wins, you get only a part of it back as profit, for example 80%. This is called the payout.
Because a loss costs 100% of the amount and a win pays less than 100%, the size of each trade matters a lot. A binary risk calculator turns your balance, trade amount and payout into clear numbers: the risk as a percentage of your balance, the profit on a win, the loss on a loss, and your new balance in both cases.
The calculator does not predict the market and does not give signals. It only shows you the risk before you take it.
How to use the calculator
- Enter your capital: the total money in your trading account.
- Enter the trade amount you are thinking of placing.
- Enter the payout % shown by your platform (for example 80).
- Read the risk level. Low is under 3% of your balance, medium is 3–6%, high is 6% or more.
- Check the win and loss boxes to see your balance after each result.
- Optional: open "Advanced" to add an earlier loss you want to recover or a daily target. The calculator shows whether a win would cover it.
Worked example
Say your balance is 10,000 and you want to place a trade of 500 with an 80% payout.
Risk: 500 ÷ 10,000 = 5% of your balance. That is a medium risk. If the trade wins, you earn 500 × 80% = 400 and your balance becomes 10,400. If it loses, you lose the full 500 and your balance becomes 9,500.
Now look at the same balance with a 1% trade of 100. A win adds 80 and a loss removes 100. The numbers are smaller, but five losses in a row only take 5% of your account instead of 25%. That is the whole idea of risk management: staying in the game long enough for your skill to matter.
| Trade amount | Risk of balance | If it wins | If it loses |
|---|---|---|---|
| 100 | 1% | +80 → 10,080 | −100 → 9,900 |
| 200 | 2% | +160 → 10,160 | −200 → 9,800 |
| 500 | 5% | +400 → 10,400 | −500 → 9,500 |
| 1,000 | 10% | +800 → 10,800 | −1,000 → 9,000 |
Why the payout changes everything
With an 80% payout, one loss (−100) is bigger than one win (+80). To simply break even you must win 1 ÷ (1 + 0.80) = 55.6% of your trades. With a 70% payout you need about 58.8%. So a lower payout needs a higher win rate just to stay at zero.
This is why many traders who "win more than they lose" still see their balance fall. Always check the payout before a trade and keep it in mind when you judge your results.
Common mistakes
- Using a trade size of 10% or more of the balance. A short losing streak then does serious damage.
- Doubling the amount after a loss to "win it back". This is martingale, and it grows your risk very fast.
- Ignoring the payout. A 60% payout and a 90% payout are very different trades.
- Changing the trade size based on feelings instead of a fixed rule.
- Having no daily loss limit, so one bad day turns into a lost account.
The 1–2% risk rule
A simple rule used by many traders: risk only 1% to 2% of your balance on a single trade. With 10,000, that means trades of 100 to 200. Even ten losses in a row would cost 10–20%, which you can recover from. With 10% per trade, the same streak would take most of your account.
Pair the rule with a daily loss limit (for example 10% of your starting balance). When you reach it, stop for the day. Our money management plan calculator builds both numbers for you.
Frequently asked questions
Is this binary risk calculator free?
Yes. It is free, it works in your browser and you do not need an account. Nothing you type is saved.
How much should I risk per binary trade?
Many traders risk 1% to 2% of their balance per trade. Smaller trades mean a losing streak cannot wipe out your account.
What does the payout % mean?
It is the profit a winning trade pays, as a percentage of the amount. With 80%, a winning trade of 100 pays 80 profit. A losing trade loses the full 100.
What win rate do I need to break even?
It depends on the payout: break-even win rate = 1 ÷ (1 + payout). At 80% payout you need about 55.6% winning trades just to break even.
Does the calculator tell me whether to trade UP or DOWN?
No. RiskQuo never gives signals or predictions. It only shows the risk and the result of a win or a loss.
Can I use it for any broker?
Yes. Enter the payout your platform shows. The maths is the same on every binary options platform.
